Blue Zones
“Blue Zone is a non-scientific term given to a geographic region home to some of the World’s oldest people. Five regions in the world live by a simple set of rules which seem to be a magical elixir of becoming a centenarian.
Living to 100 does not have to mean a strict regimen of fitness followed by a joyless meal and t-totalism. Blue zone residents live a healthy, balanced, and stress-free life, spending time with family and friends and have the occasional glass of wine with delicious dinners.
Demonstrated by Blue Zone centenarians, one can consume alcohol and live to a happy one hundred, the trick is to drink one to two glasses per day with friends and/or with food. The Original Blue Zone areas drink alcohol moderately and regularly to allow a healthy gut relationship with the breakingdown and processing of the alcohol, so your body can extract the benefits.
To settle curiosity, the other rules that one should follow in a blue zone are as follows: Community time, meals with friends and family, effective methods to deal with stress, a life purpose, a plant-based diet, keeping moving and exercising, moderation - many live by the '80% full rule' for food and drink - To always have space for 20% more.
According to a study completed by the European Society of Cardiology, moderate wine drinking and regular exercise is a combination that can be protective against cardiovascular disease.
Sardinians are famous for their daily consumption of the robust, regional red Cannonau, which has two to three times the level of artery-cleansing flavonoids as other wines. Small doses of this antioxidant-rich beverage could explain fewer heart attacks and lower stress levels, which is also contributed by how they consume it – always surrounded by good friends and good food.
Similarly, in Costa Rica, most wine imported from South America, with one variety in particular is known for its health benefits, Tannat, a red grape variety with high levels of antioxidants (procyanidins and resveratrol). The chemical compound in the skins is known to protect the body against damage that puts it at higher risk for cancer, heart disease, and dementia. Other grape varieties are similarly known for their antioxidant rich wines, such as pinot noir, Grenache, Sagrantino, Assyrtiko, and others.
